Training

GTI training approach:

Generally, any training is transformative and involves a process that aims to increase knowledge, skills and capacity with a view to develop and change behaviour. Within an overarching training strategy of using animation techniques for learning and change, GTI training programmes include:-

  • Academic courses in transformative gender analysis and feminism;·
  • Transformative awareness raising in the context of women’s groups and women’s movement; and
  •  In- service training to develop gender awareness and related skills of organizations (government and non-government involved in development policy, planning, budgeting and implementation.

As an inclusive transformation institute with a regional outreach and an international perspective, GTI effectively pursues the window of opportunity by focusing on national, regional and international level training. Within the current context where global trends have a strong influence on national socio-economic and political processes, building alliances with regional and international networks is crucial in GTI programming framework. In this regard, GTI training approach consists of a combination of academic, in-service training and outreach as indicated below.

  • Academic programmes for professionals who wish to pursue advanced studies leading to Undergraduate Degrees, Masters and PhDs in transformative feminism or related areas. The delivery approach for these programmes will be practical, competency-based and action-oriented.
  • In-service training facilities to enable people with diverse professional backgrounds to acquire further training based on transformative feminism approach in order to enable them to use the knowledge in their workplaces to push for social transformation. This can lead to recognized certificates or diplomas such as those awarded by ILO-Turin Training Centre or the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR).
